Hi, I'm Jiles I'm here to ask for help for my little sister Jasmine. She has been in a medically induced coma for most of November fighting for her life. Before being admitted to the hospital, I knew she wasn't feeling well. I had been stopping by her house and making her food. I noticed she didn't eat the meals I made for her and was even refusing to drink water. I ended up calling 911 on the night of October 31st. The hospital did a CT scan and the doctors were shocked to find that her body was full of blood clots, some extremely large saddle PE between her heart and lungs. Before they could even begin to remove the blood clots they had to do an operation to attach the ECMO machine (life support). They operated on her for five and a half hours removing many blood clots. Some of the blood clots were left, including the saddle PE. They transported her to the ICU at Barnes that had an ECMO team. They did another CT scan and decided to operate again. In the middle of the operation, she lost all her vitals for over 5 mins. They were able to resuscitate her and put her into a coma so her body would have a better chance to survive. For the next two weeks, she was kept alive by machines. I've never felt so helpless seeing my little sister with feeding tubes and breathing tubes in her, knowing there is nothing I could do to help her.
