My dad, Victor, recently suffered a severe stroke that left his right side paralyzed—he cannot swallow, speak, or eat on his own. His condition remains uncertain, and treatment is touch-and-go.

I live in Texas and have been traveling back and forth to New York to be with him, which has added to the financial strain. At the same time, his wife is battling cancer and takes cabs to the hospital twice a day to be by his side. Rent is now two months behind, bills are piling up, and the costs have become overwhelming.
