Helping My Dad Through Amputation and Recovery
Donation protected
For 22 years, my dad has been living with Diabetes. However, within the last couple of months, there's been a lot of unexpected news that has been really hard to process for him and those who love him.
While at work, he stepped on a nail without knowing and blood flow to his foot was compromised. Considering that he didn't know he stepped on a nail, tissue in the foot and toe began to turn dark and eventually became necrotic (dead, infected tissue). As a diabetic, it takes a lot longer for wounds to heal, especially when blood flow is compromised in the smaller blood vessels (toes, and fingers). His first toe amputation was about a month and a half ago. As a result of that surgery he has been dealing with a huge, open wound on the top of his foot and it just isn't healing as doctors would have hoped because of even more infection and necrotic tissue. The most current verdict is further amputation of the foot.
Many of you know that my dad is a true super hero who loves to give and bless others. He will give you the last dollar in his pocket and I know that all too well. It doesn't matter if he knows you or not. His favorite thing to do when we go out to eat is pick a random table, pay for their meal, and leave before they notice. He is humble, he is a hard worker and an overall AMAZING person!
This has been a difficult time, physically, emotionally, and of course, financially. For someone who has always been the giver, my dad is in need of more support now than ever. The financial goal we are requesting would cover medical costs as well as living costs and support while in recovery, considering he wouldn't be able to work. However, ANYTHING is appreciated! We would also appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this time!
