Helping My Dad Fight Leukemia: Hope for a Cure❤️

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you know this past year has been an incredibly difficult journey for my parents. A little over a year ago my dad was diagnosed with myelofibrosis, and earlier this January, we received the devastating news that it had progressed into leukemia.

My parents have had to relocate to Vancouver while my dad undergoes chemotherapy and awaits a bone marrow transplant - his only chance for a cure. Earlier this week we learned that the doctors were unable to find an unrelated donor on the International Bone Marrow Donor list. Our last hope is a haploidentical transplant (a match from one of his children). This type of transplant comes with added risk and a much longer recovery time; which means my parents will have to stay in Vancouver much longer than anticipated.

Through it all, my dad has shown unbelievable strength and courage. My mom has been by his side every step of the way. With the cost of rent in Vancouver, medical expenses not covered by BC medical, and living expenses, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

My parents would never ask for help themselves, but I know how much lighter this journey could feel if we can ease some of their financial burden. Any support no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping them cover living expenses during the next 6-12 months of treatment and recovery.

We are endlessly grateful for the love, kindness, and encouragement from all of you. Your generosity - whether through donations, sharing this page, or simply keeping my dad in your thoughts - means more than words can express.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with my dad and our family during this fight.

With love and gratitude,

Giorio Family
Update on My Dad

Hi everyone, We wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your incredible kindness, generosity, and support. Your donations and messages have meant the world to our family during this time. My parents are still in Vancouver, and while none of us kids turned out to be a donor match—and there were no matches found through the worldwide registry—we received some amazing news: my dad’s nephew is a match and has agreed to donate. We are beyond grateful and feel so lucky for this gift of hope. The transplant is scheduled for the first week of December, and after the procedure, my mom and dad will need to stay within 20 minutes of the hospital for at least 100 days as he recovers. We’re praying that everything goes smoothly and that this marks the beginning of his healing journey. Thank you again for every donation, share, and kind thought sent our way. We are truly touched by the love and support surrounding us—and we promise that one day, we will pay it forward.

 With so much gratitude,

Jenna & Family
