my husband and I adopted my cat, Simon, on August 21, and three days later I found out he had advanced periodontal disease. Simon was a stray before I brought him home, and he had never received the care he needed. His dental issues have lead to him barley eating, inability to groom himself (I love him to death but he smells awful), excessive drooling and sometimes bleeding.
A little about Simon:
He is the ultimate cuddle buddy and emotional companion. He can calm you down from anything in 5 minutes. He is a big time mommas boy and loved watching tv with us. Cat tax included! :)
Before his first surgery, Simon had multiple urgent care vet visits because of severe bleeding in his mouth and because he was having trouble eating/ keeping anything down. Then he had a bad reaction to a medicine and we were at a vets office for multiple days straight. Watching him go through that while worrying about how to pay for his care has been incredibly hard. His first surgery cost $1,500, and we have also spent about $600 on urgent care visits. My husband is navy and we are both picking up extra work but the extra money usually goes to groceries or bills. Pet insurance would not cover anything due to it being an existing condition. Everyone told us the shelter should help a little bit but they haven’t. I have added the first surgery receipt and estimate for the next for proof.
Simons first surgery took out 3 teeth, they were very infected so it had to be broken into 2 surgeries. Simons second surgery is on November 10, which will cost $1,200. He is getting 6 more teeth removed (including his fangs) I am asking for help to cover that surgery and to help pay the vet bills that have put us into more debt than we can handle. This has caused daily financial stress and made it hard for us as a young couple to afford daily life. Everyone told us to have him put down or rehome him but I just grew so attached to him. The financial stress on top of worrying about my kitty every minute of the day is a lot to handle.
Any support for Simon's care would mean so much to me. If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would help me keep up with his medical needs and ease some of the stress we are facing. Thank you for caring about Simon and taking the time to read this. I understand everyone is struggling right now so Anything counts and Simon and us are appreciative of anything at all.
