Helping Ms. Denise and Ms. Tam after house fire

Donation protected
Those of us fortunate enough to know Ms. Denise and Ms. Tam know the loving, giving, selfless spirit they offer to all they come in contact with. Last night, February 17th, Ms. Tam's apartment was burned to the ground, along with all her and Ms. Denise's belongings. We are reaching out to all our network to help support them with the tremendous financial needs they will be facing in the coming days. Please give what you can, if you are able, and help us spread the word to help us meet (and exceed) our goal.
Ms. Denise is a dedicated educator who has positively impacted thousands of lives. She is a humble servant leader who has dedicated her life to teaching high school students in Minneapolis. Ms. Tam has given countless hours to Minneapolis students through her mentorship and running the score board at hundreds of games over the years.

Please read the following message from Tam and Denise on what unfolded yesterday.

___________
Hi everyone,
Unfortunately on 2/17/21 during a winter storm and rolling black outs in Frisco Texas my apartment building became inflamed and I just got word after over 24 hours of trying to extinguish the fire that my mom Denise and I have lost every single item in my apartment.

My mom is a teacher and has been working from home since the COVID-19 shutdowns in March 2020. My mom and I are best friends and since I moved in July 2020 my mom has been so sweet and joins me in Texas for a month at a time to help me get adjusted. Her coming in town is great for both of us; she get’s some warm weather and we both get mom and daughter time. My mom has lost so much too. Her electronic devices, clothes, shoes, jewelry etc.

While I'm greatly saddened that we’ve lost so much and grateful for our lives. I’m still struggling to cope with the idea that if we opened the front door of my apartment 1 minute later than we did my mother Denise and I would no longer be alive.

As we sat in disbelief in fog, watching the building burn we had to find strength and determine what's important; our lives, minds, memories and relationships or was it our things. At that moment we both realized that our lives, minds, memories and relationships are the most important. We can always purchase more things but if we died trying to grab things that we love our loved ones would've died inside.

Thank you to anyone and everyone for your support. We could never thank you all enough for your kind words and warm regards. Thank you all for your compassion during one of the most difficult and long lasting moments of our lives.

Thank you, thank you, thank you again
Best,
Tam & Denise
