Mrs. Kings 1st grade class received the news that she had emergency surgery last week to remove a mass. She received the news that it was stage 3 colon cancer. Meaning, the mass was cancerous and it has spread to a number of lymph nodes. They removed 23 lymph nodes and 13 of those had cancer. As a bit of decent news the Doctor did say the margins looked good meaning he may have gotten it all with the surgery as it hadn't spread everywhere as far as they could tell from surgery. She will almost certainly have to start chemotherapy as soon as She is fully recovered from surgery in case it has spread beyond what they removed and because it's possible that microscopic cells are floating around somewhere in there.  Although we know this will not fix the circumstances but maybe help with the next steps in recovery, starting chemo and ease the burden of not being able to work. We know the Lord is in control!

1 Peter 1:3-7 says "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
