Pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood are times of new beginnings, blessings and making beloved core memories. But for pregnant mothers in Gaza, it flips to a fight for survival, a time of loss and dark unclear futures for both mothers and their children.

After the ceasefire was announced, 50% of Gaza's hospitals had already been destroyed due to the bombings, forcing the population to be driven into further more hostile conditions. Pregnant women are now even further deprived of the right medical care and nutrition in order for them to have a safe pregnancy, with 15,000 on the verge of famine. Additionally, no medical equipment to support check ups, surgeries and deliveries puts them in more danger, along with the lack of the essential human necessities that a lot of us take for granted. Over 1000's of women are forced to give birth in these horrendous conditions and many mothers and children end up dying, leaving behind orphans and shattered families.

Isreal's continuous violation of the ceasefire, deliberate starvation and blockade of aid further endangers all in Gaza and Palestine, leaving them with little to nothing. These people rely on us, so lets help them in their greatest time of need.

Me (Aksi) and Susan from Urmston Grammar Sixth Form have took it upon ourselves to accept the challenge of raising £250 from the non-profit charity organisation Islamic Relief. Sponsoring a pregnant woman costs £500 so we have split with others to raise £250. We hope to InshaAllah raise more than our goal, but that is only possible with your help. Especially for our fellow brothers and sisters in Islam, we know how important it is to help one another, for we are one ummah and even Muslim and non Muslim alike we would want others to do the same for us as we are for them.
