Helping Mom Through Cancer: Focus on Healing, Not Bills

Donation protected
If you’ve met our mom, Heather, you know she’s the most caring, selfless, and loving person. She’s the glue to our family and has always put others first. Now, it’s our turn to take care of her... but we've realized that we need help. Our mom has been diagnosed with a rare cancer called endometrial carcinosarcoma. While she faces this battle with incredible strength, the journey ahead is tough.

Living with cancer doesn’t mean you stop having to pay for bills or everyday expenses.

Being from a lower-income family, this reality hits especially hard. As unimaginable as it feels, our mom may even have to work between her cancer treatments just to make ends meet. This thought makes us feel absolutely sick.

We are committed to giving as much of our own money as we can to help her, but unfortunately, our contributions alone won’t be enough to provide her with the support she deserves. That’s why we’re reaching out to you—her friends, her family, and those who have been touched by her kindness and love—to help alleviate this burden.

Stu’s Unimaginable Strength

Our mom’s husband, Stu, has been her rock throughout this journey. Stu knows all too well the heartbreak of cancer, as his first wife tragically passed away from it. After enduring that loss, he never imagined finding another soulmate. But then, he found our mom, and together they created a new life filled with love and kindness.

Now, he is facing the unthinkable again. Watching the love of his life battle this disease has been devastating, yet he continues to support her with unwavering strength and love. Your support would also give Stu the opportunity to take time off work to be by her side during treatments and recovery, without the added stress of financial strain.

How you can help:

Between traveling back and forth to Toronto for treatments, the cost of parking, the reality of not being able to work, and simply wanting her to live as normal a life as possible, the financial stress is something we want to lift off her shoulders. Your donation will go directly towards:

  • Procedures not fully covered by insurance
  • Gas for traveling to her many trips at Princess Margaret in Toronto
  • Parking fees at hospitals and clinics
  • Covering lost income when she is unable to work
  • Providing a cushion for any unforeseen medical or living expenses
  • Living life to her fullest as much as her and Stu possibly can

If you’re able to contribute any amount, big or small, we will be forever grateful. It’s also a lifeline for our family’s mental health, knowing she can heal without the constant weight of financial stress. Thank you for helping us bring comfort, hope, and love to the most amazing woman we’ve ever known.

PLEASE NOTE: We kindly ask for your discretion, as we have chosen not to share this fundraiser or my mom’s diagnosis with our nanny, or Kayla's kids (Munro & Leo) at this time. If you know them, we would deeply appreciate your help in keeping this confidential for now.
