Hi, my name is Molly. I’m 31, a mum to little Maddie, and I’m living with end-stage kidney failure.

The last few years have been some of the hardest of my life. I’ve battled severe oedema, repeated infections, losing my PD tube, and endless hospital stays – sometimes for weeks or months at a time. I’ve been admitted to Critical Care, spent weeks unconscious, and experienced memory loss from the trauma of everything my body has been through. Waking up not knowing what had happened, or how long I’d been gone, is something I’ll carry with me forever.

I eventually had to start haemodialysis when Maddie was just six weeks old. I should have been in a newborn bubble, learning motherhood… instead, I was fighting to stay alive, recovering from complications, infections, fluid overload, and the physical and emotional fallout that came with it all.

I also had to leave my nursing career because my health simply can’t meet the physical demands anymore. Losing my career – something I trained hard for and loved deeply – was heartbreaking.

Life with kidney failure has created challenges I never expected:

I rely on my family for transport to every dialysis session and hospital appointment

My appointments are scattered across the area and often urgent

We’ve had to increase childcare because dialysis days and flare days leave me too unwell to safely care for Maddie

The emotional and physical toll of haemodialysis means I often need someone with me for support

Craig and my family frequently have to take unpaid leave from work to drive me, stay with me, or care for Maddie when I’m too unwell

Every infection or emergency admission resets our whole routine and adds more strain

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help with:

Transport to dialysis and hospital appointments

Additional childcare when I’m too unwell to manage

Support during emergency admissions

The financial strain from Craig and my family taking unpaid leave

The impact of being unable to work after having to leave my nursing career

I’m not looking for anything extravagant – just a bit of stability. A little breathing room so I can focus on staying well enough to be Maddie’s mum, instead of constantly worrying about how we’ll manage the next setback.
