Helping Molly After Losing Kovu

Our dear friend, Molly, tragically lost her beloved kitty, Kovu at the beginning of this month. He unexpectedly fell ill after developing a severe urinary blockage which is considered deadly for male cats. She immediately took him to the emergency vet, but they quoted her $7,500 for the surgery which she couldn't afford. They stabilized him and referred her to a more affordable vet that couldn't help the cat until the next day. Kovu's bladder was so full of crystals that they couldn't insert a catheter, so they were sticking a needle in his stomach to relieve him. They refused to perform the surgery until the following day because the primary surgeon was unavailable. When Kovu finally underwent surgery, he fell into a coma and lost all brain activity because they had waited so long to operate on him. Molly was immediately notified and made arrangements to see him before he passed but it was too late. She got a call on the way to the vet to let her know he didn't make it.

Before performing the surgery, they had told Molly that even if Kovu didn't recover she would still be responsible for a vet bill of up to $5,000. Molly agreed immediately, seeing that a cat shouldn't die because of financial reasons even though she had no idea how she was going to pay it.

Molly took Kovu in 2 years ago when he was still a kitten. She found him on the streets of Ybor City and fell in love. Despite having two other cats to take care of and working over 40 hours a week, she wanted to take him in and give him a better life. Since then, she has nursed him back to health and gave him a happy and save life full of love. But now their family has a piece missing all due to an unexpected and unfortunate event that was out of Molly's hands.

Since the vet was unable to save Kovu, they gave her a $1,000 grant to help offset the costs, but she is still left with a vet bill of $3,000. After exhausting most of her options to save her beloved cat, she is struggling to make ends meet.

We are setting up this fundraiser to help her pay what is left of the vet bills and help her recover after this traumatic event. Any amount helps Molly and is greatly appreciated.
