Helping Moldova Support Ukraine part Deux

Many of you will know i have recently returned from Moldova the culmination of our first adventure, which started with, like many, when we witnessed the heartache of the recent events in Ukraine. In searching for something constructive to do to help I volunteered my vehicles and trailers to TEECH a charity already doing amazing work in Moldova for 20 years prior. They had organised at that stage 3 artic loads of aid to go to Moldova the poorest country in Europe and recipient of the largest number of refugees per capita with what still appears very little assistance themselves.

A good friend started a gofundme for myself and a couple of other friends to pay for fuel to assist TEECH in getting the aid to Moldova, unloading and distributing it once there, well my goodness if it didnt grow legs!!

3 trucks grew into 8 plus 2 vans and a trailer, 3 other charities joined with us and of the £3,500 target, nearly £10,000 was raised.

This enabled us to do far more to assist on the ground than we imagined. We were able to identify specific needs and purchase locally what was required to help.

The 8 trucks were sent to various locations around the country while we attached to a truck that delivered its load to Balti. We did travel to help unload others but our "hub" in Balti distributed to in brief:

2 Regional Hospitals

4 refugee facilities

5 municipal councils assisting refugees

The funds that were raised via GFM went towards

6 cases of special and immediate assistance, including the purchase of a halfway house and specialist medication

3 facilities infilling gaps with things like cutlery, washing powder, disinfectant and plumbing repairs

Fresh and frozen food supplies that produced 3,000 hot meals

500 familiar meals for traumatised children

footballs!!

And paid the fuel and taxes on 8240 miles of logistics.

So, needless to say, i would like to do it again. So begging cap out.

We anticipated a return and left one of the 4x4s in Moldova (thankyou Tris). So this time, we are flying out in time to meet several truckloads of root veg from Holland. At the end of May, an unconfirmed number of trucks from the UK via TEECH are due to arrive, which my middle son Henry and i will help distribute Balti with the Moldovan Daniel Foundation. We will again identify specific needs amongst the local community supporting Ukrainian refugees that 100% of your donation will go toward whilst also helping support the Moldovan economy.
