Helping Migdalia on her cancer journey ❤️

We are reaching out in support of our mom. Some of you may know her as Migdalia Estrada, but most of you who know and love her, call her "Mickey".

As most of you know, we lost our brother Carlos "C-Lo" this past June. Several days after his devastating loss, mom began experiencing chest pain and some other symptoms. While at the hospital, in the process of diagnostic testing, it was found that her heart was ok and she likely had these symptoms due to the extreme grief and stress caused by Carlos' passing ("Broken heart syndrome" is a real thing). But what we did not expect to hear, was that during this process, the CAT scan performed on her chest revealed to the doctors she had a tumor in her right lung.

After further testing and biopsies, last August, it was found that this tumor was indeed cancerous. Mom was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that is indolent(slow growing), stage 1-E. Her specific type of lymphoma is a very rare type called MALT lymphoma, also known as extranodal marginal zone lymphoma.

After visiting Dana Farber in Boston, her oncologist told us this type of cancer is very treatable but not curable. He also explained that it can come back somewhere else down the line, BUT that her prognosis is GOOD! It was then decided that the best treatment option for mom was radiation therapy to target the tumor.

Since then, mom has completed all of her radiation treatments. A repeat CAT scan performed a few weeks ago and what was found in the beginning remained the same but unfortunately she has some new nodules in her right lower lobe of her lung and some enlarged lymph nodes.

Here's where we can use your help...The doctors are recommending that she go back in for a PET scan to see if those new nodules in her lower right lung are cancerous. The cost of the CAT scans, PET scans and other tests are not fully covered by Medicare, as they only cover 85% of her care costs. Mom's medial bills are coming in and she's becoming overwhelmed with how to pay for everything. This is the last thing a grieving mother should have to worry about after just losing her child. We want mom to be able to focus on grieving and her health, not on how she's going to pay her medical bills. If you would like to help support our mom through a donation and lift our family up through prayer, we would greatly appreciate it. She is so deserving of all things good and we are going to make sure that her worries are minimal as she navigates this journey. All donations will go towards the cost of her medical bills, co pays, parking and costs of travel to/from Boston, where she receives her care.

As you can imagine, with everything our family is presently going through, we couldn't bear the thought of possibly losing our mom too. We know this is just another way the devil is trying to test our faith, but he will never win. We are a God fearing family and His goodness, mercy and healing will ALWAYS prevail. We are truly blessed with the best ARMY of family and friends. We are forever grateful for all of the love and support you have shown and continue to show mom and our family and we are hoping and praying that this will all soon just be a distant memory and another testimony Mom can add to her life in showing and proving God's glory and faithfullness to us all. We know Carlos is looking down smiling and thankful at all the love you have shown us. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
