Over the last 2 1/2 weeks, Michelle and I suffered a number of unpredictable and unpreventable financial hardships, culminating with both of our cats becoming ill (one with a kidney condition, the other with colitis & a flare-up of his skin condition), and a city water main rupturing in front of our building last Friday (August 22). We just finished moving from our last apartment on 8/10 and have not fully unpacked yet.
The flooding destroyed the store on the first floor of the building in addition to all utilities for our building and the sidewalk (and access) to our apartment. Unfortunately there have been countless issues with the restoration process which have prolonged it from “just a few days” to “2 maybe 3 weeks” per officials.
Furthermore, our renter's insurance has rejected our claim, leaving us solely responsible for temporary housing, the loss of all of our food, and the cost of boarding our ill-cats who require stable living conditions throughout this time.
We are fundraising to cover the 2-3 weeks of unexpected costs of temporary housing, food, and boarding our cats due to the water main break and destruction of our building‘s utilities and access.
