Hi, my name is Melanie and I am a proud mother to a beautiful daughter who is 22 weeks pregnant.

Over the past several weeks, we have been seeing multiple specialists, and about two to three weeks ago, we received devastating news. Our precious baby has been diagnosed with a very rare condition called caudal regression. In addition to this, the baby’s heart did not fully develop—the entire left side is missing—and the baby also did not form kidneys.

This condition is extremely rare, affecting only about 1 in 99,000 pregnancies, and tragically, it happened to my daughter.

We were told today that the baby has no chance of survival. At this time, the baby is only able to live because of my daughter, and doctors have advised that she will be induced next week. This has been incredibly painful and emotional for our family, especially for my daughter, who is facing a loss no parent should ever have to endure.
