Helping Melanie and Ricky

My name is Emilie Jones, I am Melanie and Ricky’s daughter. I’m starting another page in hopes to help them again.

 

This is the story:

 

Last year, both of my parents went through a very devastating time. My dad had stage 3 rectal cancer. Everything went okay until he had his surgery. He now has a colostomy bag and also severe nerve damage in his lower back and legs from the radiation. We received this upsetting news Friday. The Doctor stated that he will never be able to walk the same again. He will either have a walker or wheelchair. They also stated that the medicine he’s been given is not healing anything, it’s only to help his quality of life. This diagnosis also means that he will not be able to work anymore. My mom has been disabled since 2015. She has lost half of her foot on her right side and last year she got an infection in her left foot which led to amputation from the knee down. Everything was going great for her ( prosthesis wise ) but now she has formed another infection on the amputated leg and we’re not sure what’s going to happen from here. We will know more after we have her appointment with the infectious disease doctor today.

 

They are currently sky high in medical debt. Neither of them are working. My dad is currently trying to get disability but as for what we know, that could take years before accepted. He was the one bringing home the money. As he was the only one able to work.  They have used every penny of their savings and now they have nothing to the point where they may lose their home. I know it seems like I’m a broken record, I just need help helping them. We appreciate every single person who has cared for them in any way! You never go unnoticed. ❤️
