I’m scared, exhausted, and out of options. My paid family leave has run out, but my mom is still fighting cancer. She has at least two more months of treatment, and she needs me with her every step of the way—at appointments, managing medications, watching for complications, and simply not being alone. I’ve had to take a leave from my job to care for her, and the financial pressure is crushing. Bills don’t stop because cancer shows up. Mortgage, food, gas, and basic expenses are piling up, and I’m doing everything I can just to keep us stable.
