Helping Mark Baker
Donation protected
As many of you know, Mark Baker was recently diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the Liver and needs a liver transplant. Just to give you a little history...
Mark is a 1988 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School and a former classmate of mine. Mark resides in Coldwater and has been married to Kelley Bettinger-Baker for 23 years. They have three daughters, Rachel, 22, Allison, 19, and Brenna, who is 10 and in the 4th grade. Mark works at Bud's Chevrolet & Buick in St. Mary's where he's a Sales Manager.
Last July, Mark became very ill and was hospitalized. After many tests, it was discovered that Mark needed a liver transplant. He has been placed on the natural donor list but that could take years to get a portion of a liver from a perfect match. In the meantime, Mark is undergoing weekly trips to the OSU Wexner Medical Center, where he has liters of fluids removed from his abdomen. As you can imagine, this is not only uncomfortable but also very costly (medical costs, transportation, meals, etc.).
I am seeking monetary donations from the community to help Mark and his family with all of the costs involved with this diagnosis. The money collected will go directly to the Baker family. As a former classmate, I can say with great confidence that Mark is one of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet. And Kelley is just as wonderful! I cannot imagine what they go through, as a family, every single day. If you can't afford to donate, please keep them in your prayers.
In conclusion, Mark and his family are also looking for living donors as well. If you are interested in seeing if you are a match, please visit www.wexnermedical.osu.edu/LiverDonor for more information.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
