Helping Mark Morey Pay for Medical Bills
Donation protected
Mark Morey, our friend and esteemed colleague, is battling cancer. Last month, he was airlifted from his family’s home in Brewster to a hospital in Wenatchee, where his condition was stabilized with a series of targeted radiation treatments. He was discharged on March 23 and was taken by medical transport to his mother’s home in Port Angeles.
When word of Mark's illness became known last year, friends provided an outpouring of donations, but more help is urgently needed.
The stress on Mark’s family has been overwhelming. When he was hospitalized in Wenatchee, Mark’s mother was driving 130 miles a day to be with him, while his brother was traveling from his hometown of Boise, more than 420 miles away.
While reporting for the Yakima Herald-Republic, Mark was part of the team that won the prestigious George Polk Award for their investigation into the deaths of four firefighters in the Thirtymile Fire in 2001. When we think of Mark, words like ethics and intellect come to mind, but we mostly smile at his dry wit and flat delivery of one-liners that always make us laugh.
We have established this GoFundMe account to support Mark and his family during this painful ordeal. Thank you so much for your donation.
