Maria Legregin is one of the hardest working individuals in the world and is known for helping others every day with a smile. Maria, who lives in NJ, sees the world in a positive manner and is always pleasant and opportunistic. However, while the rest of us are engaged in launching our new year goals, Maria was hit with devastation and despair when two earthquakes ripped through the Southwest area of Puerto Rico. On January 6 and 7, 2020, M 5.8 and M 6.4 earthquake hit Puerto Rico destroying both her mother and brother’s homes rendering them unfit to live in. Since then, Maria has been supporting them by providing them with shelter, money, hope and other resources.
The extent of the damage to the homes is quite substantial and; unfortunately, the two families do not possess earthquake insurance (it was not necessary in the area they reside), leaving them with no way to finance the extensive repairs required to move back into their homes. This unfortunate situation creates insurmountable challenges for Maria with her family as there have been no indications of assistance from the local government authorities.
This GoFundMe is created by Maria’s United work family, who want to offer support in her time of need as she does for all of us. All the money raised from this campaign will assist Maria’s family in financing temporary housing and repairing their homes in the hope of returning to some sense of normalcy during the long, arduous process. We appreciate any donation you can make and please circulate within your contacts as well! They will need a lot of help…
