Helping Mady's Medical Expenses

Hello, my name is Cooper, and I am fundraising for my brother Madison.

On July 1st, a tumor was discovered in Mady's brain. He was put into immediate surgery to get it removed. However, due to the location of the tumor the doctors were only able to remove a small portion of it (2%). The lab results came back as cancerous, and Mady started meeting with multiple oncologists to develop a treatment plan. It was diagnosed as a Pilocytic Astrocytoma inside of the brain stem.

Before treatment could even start Mady started having complications that led to seizures and muscle mobility. Now he is scheduled to have another brain surgery. This second surgery will put a shunt in and hopefully stop the seizures so that he can then start radiation treatment for cancer. He has a great team at the University of Washington Seattle Cancer Care Alliance working with him. They approved him for Proton therapy, which is the best radiation treatment available. Proton therapy has a higher effectiveness rating than traditional radiation because it is able to target the tumor closer and damage less of the surrounding healthy tissue. Due to Mady's tumor being in his brain stem, it is extremely important to keep the surrounding area as healthy as possible. His second brain surgery is scheduled for Oct 12th. He is expected to start radiation treatment by December and it will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks. From there we will know if the tumor is shrinking or not.

This whole process has stopped Mady in his tracks. He has had to take a leave from work, move out of his apartment, and is currently unable to drive. Everything donated will go towards Mady's hospital bills, radiation treatment and quality of life. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this with him.
