Helping Luis Rivera & his Family
Donation protected
This is to help Luis Rivara, Eymi and their 13 year old son Adrian. They are overwhelmed. It is in their greatest hour of need!
Here is their story as told to me by Luis & Eymi:
On December 16, 2023, around 7pm, Luis was riding his motorcycle, headed to dinner for his company’s Christmas Party.
He remembers turning off Mulholland onto Benedict Canyon and he has a vague memory of being on the ground in incredible pain and someone trying to remove his helmet straps. The next thing he remembers is being in the hospital in ICU.
It is a blessing from God that he was in shock and has no memory of the accident or how it happened. The only thing he knows is that he was found about 50 feet from his bike.
He spent a week in ICU and has had three surgeries with more to come! He is suffering from a broken clavicle, 4 fractured ribs (two on each side. He has two broken bones in his right arm. His right leg had three very large gaping wounds and two broken bones. Luckily his left leg is okay. His left arm isn’t broken but he currently has zero function in his hand and arm, perhaps due to extensive nerve damage is from the broken clavicle. He currently has zero function in his arm and hand. He can’t lift it or even move his fingers. Doctors are not able to determine yet, whether he will ever regain control. Healing time and extensive physical therapy will determine that.
He probably has another surgery or two to go through. Due to the extensive damage to his right leg, Luis is not able to walk yet.
Luis has been in the hospital for three weeks now. He has lost three weeks of income so far and it doesn't appear he will be able to return to work anytime soon. Eymi has also lost a lot of income in order to be by Luis’s side through all of this. Adrian has been there too for his Dad.
The reason for this campaign is to provide Luis all the time he needs to properly recover without feeling the pressure of needing to “get back to work” because they need the money. Rushing or cutting his recovery short could mean the difference of regaining function of his left arm. In addition to Luis’s and Eymi’s lost income, of course there are major medical bills! ICU, surgeries, weeks of be hospitalized, rent, household expenses, bills, pharmacy costs, and perhaps months of physical therapy. Imagine the burden of all of that debt!
In order to help not have to worry about all of that pressue, and allow him recover properly we set up this campaign so that anyone who desires to help, can donate to Luis’s recovery.
The minimum donation through Go Fund Me is $5.00, so whether you contribute $5, $50, or $5,000 dollars just know that Luis is so grateful to be alive. He is also very grateful for your love, prayers, visits and texts. His faith and will are strong, as are Eymi’s and Adrian’s too.
I asked Luis what his message is to everyone and he said, "Tell everyone to slow down and be grateful for everything in your life. Tell the people you care about how much they mean to you!
Please help this good family by donating to them. They deserve it!
If you prefer to donate cash or check (Made out to Luis Rivera) in person, you can make arrangements to do that by calling Eymi Lucha at [phone redacted] or me, Corky Gregson at [phone redacted].
