My name is Tolic Portnoy, I recently came back to Melbourne, Australia after residing for 7 years in Asia.  Within that time span, I spent 4 years in Lombok. The information below has completely shattered me and broken my heart.
Can you PLEASE help..

Lombok is Bali's sister Island. This tragedy has also massively destroyed North Lombok and the three Gilie's Islands. It is a most magnificent place to say the absolute least. 

The latest tragedy, being a horrific earthquake in the Lombok mountains has devastatingly taken Hundreds of lives already and so far over 200,000 thousand Men, Women and children homeless, jobless, freezing and with no resources - no water, food or shelter.

We sit comfortably in our warm homes with everything we could possibly need. Can you imagine in the span of 30 seconds, losing all of that entirely. No we cant! It can only be imagined but even then, the shock and devastation we imagine doesn't match what the people of Lombok, Indonesia are now faced with. Can you imagine living on $100 a month and then be faced with this catastrophic earthquake.

I have never been surrounded by such a warm, giving and happy community. The last two days have traumatised me after reading all the messages received from so many of the close friend and families who made me feel so at home when I was there. Up to date, I personally know over twenty five families who have lost everything, including an entire fisherman village (Over Sixty families) on the beach.

I cant imagine how they are coping with this recent earthquake. The people who have the strength are already teaming up to try and rebuild as much as they can to somewhat put themselves back into a comfort zone.  I and so many others care so very much for this community and together with your help, we can assist with the rebuilding of this magical island!

We don't know how long it will take to rebuild Lombok and the three islands. Its also very important to know that the tourist industry helps Lombok keep it's head above water.
With no Tourism, Lombok is non existent.

I understand everyone is not in the position to help with this cause but every cent counts. With everyone feeling this communities pain, please try and give anything you can. The smallest amount for us, is like millions to them.  Even five dollars would go such a long way.

I promise, whatever funds that are raised from this fund raiser, will go directly to the people who will need it most. These people are the people who are not able to rebuild there homes and who desperately require shelter.  Thank you in advance for all your support! God bless you all.
