Lobo Lobos, now that's a great name for an underwater archeologist. However, it didn't have any effect on his employer when it was discovered that "Our Lobo" had a heart condition that made it both unwise and unsafe to dive anymore.
He was unceremoniously dismissed and had to move from the big city where he was just about getting by, to the mountains where the cost of living is so much lower. With no job to make ends meet, day to day and week to week he has to do whatever he can to earn a dollar.
Added to his health problems, his wife also has serious medical issues with only 1 kidney that functions properly. She has to work extremely long hours as a hairdresser fitted in around walking the twins 3 miles to school and back. At the end of the day, of course it's 4 long and exhausting trips for her. This is particularly difficult for her with no car as it completely broke down recently.
To cut a long, and until very recently a sad story short, where they live in the Dominican Republic if you loose your job and can't get another one you starve. So to that end, Lobo makes sandwiches and coffee for tourist pilgrims hoping they will buy from him at the side of the road. It is very lucky for him as he lives near their religious route and hopes they are both thirsty and hungry, which coincidently is a bit like him.
So please consider donating something to ease their suffering. Lobo is going to put every penny not spent on food and medicine (when needed) on the absolute essentials such as his children's education. He says his plan is that no future employer of theirs will ever be able to treat his children the way he was treated just because he couldn't dive anymore. Every child deserves the right to fundamental education, no child should be deprived or have to suffer. Quoting Lobo, "I want them to be able to follow and achieve their dreams for their whole life, not just when they are young and useful..." So whatever donations you can manage to give, that will better the childrens' future as well as tend to the illnesses experienced by both Lobo and his wife, will be indefinitely appreciated.
