Helping Liz & Niamh through their loss ❤️
Our beautiful teacher, Liz, lost the love of her life, and their daughter, Niamh, lost her loving father, Yorgos, to cardiac arrest. Liz & Niamh will need all of our support during this difficult time. Anything, we as a community can offer is much appreciated as Liz & Niamh go forward during the difficult days, weeks and months ahead.
We wanted to share Liz's beautiful words about Yorgos here ❤️
Yorgos loved teaching. He had a natural gift to bring his passion for music and to excite and inspire students to be the best musical versions of themselves that they could be. He worked for years devising teaching methods for music theory and it has been humbling for me to listen to him teach from our living room through zoom this year and to remember that he is a true master of his field. He gives every class the same amount of respect and attention whether it is college students learning intricate musical concepts, or third graders learning the recorder.
Yorgos was a great friend to many and loved with his whole heart. He was truly interested in the lives of others and encouraged their projects, helped in times of sadness, and was capable of inspiring great joy. He was quick witted and laughed easily always keeping me on my toes. He loved celebrations of life, holidays and a good party.
Yorgos’s family meant the world to him. His extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles in Greece were always in his heart and on his mind. He adopted my extended family in America as his own and was a much loved presence here as well. His parents Panny and Mihali, brother Thanasis, sister in law Marianna and their beautiful children were everything to him.
I am so sad that his time on this earth was cut short. I have lost my heart and my partner in everything and Niamh has lost her beloved Dad who has been a constant at her side for the past ten years. I will do my best to keep his memory alive and with us as we forge ahead on this new path. We will miss him forever.
