My Mother was on vacation and she was on her way home. Upon her arriving at her connection in Portland, Oregon she became very sick on the plane. The airline would not let her fly and sent her to the emergency room in Portland, Oregon She was there until 3:00am in which they just diagnosed my mom with just severe dehydration. She still had extreme headaches but they discharged anyway. No X-rays or other tests! She and my Dad had to sit in the ER waiting room for hours trying to figure what do and where to go. The airline promised my sister they would make sure they got to a hotel. They did not keep there promise. After hours my Dad found a room and they stayed a day and then my mom felt some what better. She just wanted to just get home. They rented a car it was very expensive and started driving home. I talked to my Mom on September 24 and she was enjoying the ride and views along the way. Within hours she stopped at a McDonald’s to use the bathroom. She came out to the car and had extreme head pain and her speech started slurring and her arm went numb. My father called 911 and she was rushed to a small hospital in Wyoming . They finally did a ct scan and found a cranial bleed. They rushed her by helicopter to the University of Utah hospital to which they had to do brain surgery. Her diagnosis is hemorrhagic stroke. My sister Angie and I had to fly into Utah and Our father is here but has to get back home and I have to get back to nursing school and work and my kids. My sister and father are not eligible for FMLA because they both recently started at new jobs and I am not either because I work per diem. My father also has to fly back again for discharge and my sister has to fly back when father comes back. My father’s sand and Gravel business is also some what on hold because he is not there. My Mother’s med-a-vac plane trip to get back, when she is well enough will be $25,000 alone. This is not counting hotel stays, car rentals, gas, airplane tickets, shuttles, and meals. Please we ask of anyone who could be so kind to donate and help with expenses. We are not a family who ask for hand outs and worked hard for everything we have. Unfortunately at this time we need some help.
