Hi! My name is Sarah and i'm raising funds to support my daughter Kalani to pay for her cat Lily’s radiation therapy.
Lily has been part of our family since 2009. For the past 16 years, she hasn’t just been a pet, she has been a constant companion, a source of comfort, and is Kalani’s best friend. From 9 years old, Kalani has had Lily by her side.
Recently, Kalani noticed Lily was losing weight very quickly and wasn’t herself. She was suddenly diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She tried oral medication, hoping it would manage her condition, but she suffered a rare and life-threatening reaction that caused neutropenia and bone marrow suppression. It was a stressful experience, and it means she cannot continue with standard medication.
Her only remaining option is radioactive iodine (I-131) therapy which is a highly effective treatment that can permanently cure hyperthyroidism and will eventually allow her bone marrow/wbc to recover. It requires a week in a specialist facility (the cat clinic), followed by 1–2 weeks of in clinic monitoring. Aside from this sudden diagnosis, Lily is otherwise healthy, and this treatment could give her more happy, comfortable years with us (3-5 years or more?!!).
We have been quoted $3,000 for the treatment and required care, so any support or sharing of her story is deeply appreciated.
