Helping lessen their hurt

Donation protected
On July 5th, Blaine was in an accident (at 2820 and 79). Blaine’s wife, Jennye, was left to wonder if her husband was the one killed upon impact or the one on a “flight for life”. They were looking forward to celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary next week.
It was immediately apparent that Blaine had fractures on C6, T4, L2, L5, broken ribs, and a broken femur. His left leg, with the broken femur, also has a dislocated ankle, as well as, heel fractures. His right leg, which underwent extensive surgery in 2014 and has hardware in, is also broken. I would expect all of this recovery be extra trying given the fact that Blaine is also diabetic.

Jennye loves to rescue animals and Blaine loves music. They love each other, and Blaine’s daughter more than anything else. They are both incredibly hard-working, giving, and loving people. To make this just that much more complicated, they were just recovering from being forcibly removed from their home due to a family death and dispute. After securing their new housing, while having their belongings and construction materials on site at their new home they were robbed while they were at work. This isn’t something that Jennye even mentioned more than once despite the fact that it wasn’t covered and nothing is recovered.

As they both already work full-time, I have several concerns moving forward about different difficulties this situation is likely to create. The animals that she has taken in do require time and resources, there is undoubtedly an expense of just trying to be there for Blaine now and throughout his recovery, there is Blaine’s lost income, and Jennye’s limitations of income just trying to be there to advocate for her husband as he recovers even if everything goes perfectly. Additionally, I cannot surmise if there is a concern with support Blaine provides for his daughter.

More than anything, I am shook that this could be most of us, having our lives permanently altered in just one moment.
It is summer break which for many of us means feeding children with bottomless hunger, just filling our gas tanks beyond what we have imagined since nearly ten years ago, fighting an inflation that has left so many of us vulnerable. We are not as a society feeling the wellness that we once did. It’s just my hope that Jennye and Blaine can navigate this path forward without her being up again for 35 hours straight, without choosing between work to survive and being there to advocate for Blaine. They are going to recover from this just as they did from losing everything when they were robbed, but I would hope we can collectively together facilitate more than sheer survival.
