Hello All,
I am Lenny's sister, Kelly, and I'm asking for help in supporting him through some difficult challenges he's facing right now. Many of you are aware that Lenny has faced some immense difficulties over the last 4 years, and while I'm pleased to say that he has done well in surviving many of them, there are more on the horizon.
While not wanting to share things that might cause embarrassment for him, here's some background about his current situation.....
Lenny is currently living in a low rent motel. Not long ago, he was homeless, so he is grateful to have a roof over his head, yet there is no permanence to this situation. For example, he is sharing the motel room with another individual who could choose to leave at any time. Should that happen, Lenny could not afford to live there alone and would be homeless once again
Lenny has worked numerous temporary jobs to keep himself afloat, and has mostly been able to cover his basic needs (with some help from our family along the way). About two months ago, he was no longer able to work manual labor positions due to significant pain in his arms, neck and back. After a multitude of tests, the doctors have determined that he has arthritis in his neck and spine as well as a torn rotator cuff and tendon that will require surgery. Post-surgery, his doctor expects there will be a significant recovery period. This will make it difficult for Lenny to secure employment, which makes keeping a roof over his head even more precarious.
The purpose of this fundraiser is meant to assist Lenny in getting into a more permanent living arrangement. Ideally, that would be an apartment, or perhaps a small mobile home or the like. This would mean a great deal to him and would help tremendously with the daily stress and anxiety he's experiencing because of the uncertainty of where he'll live, or whether he'll be back on the street.
Lenny is a loving and gentle soul, and is extremely appreciative of any assistance he is offered. It would mean a great deal to him to know that there are people who want to help him to have the same thing we all want - safety, security and a place to lay our head at night.
Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.
Kelly (Crist) Drapeau -- Lenny's Sister
