Helping Laurie through Treatments

Hello, my name is Kaleigh Rogers.

I am heartbreakingly creating this GoFundMe for my Mother-in-law Laurie Rogers.

Let me start from the beginning. On Christmas Day of 2019 My Husband Donny Rogers, My Daughter Emilia Rogers, and Myself found my MIL unresponsive in her home. Once she was somewhat stabilized in the ICU they confirmed she had a massive stroke and several Mini Strokes. It took several long months for her to recover and she still has difficulty with walking even today.

Then at Midnight of September 19th 2021, my Husband received an urgent call from the Hospital that my MIL needed to be admitted immediately after some concerning blood work. We would find out later that she has Bone Marrow Cancer. They immediately started her on Chemo and transfusions as her blood count and Hemaglobins were severely low and if she were to receive even a small cut could bleed out.

Once she was finally released from the hospital I started taking her to her Oncology related appointments and found out that it has now developed into Pre-Leukemia and to prolong her life and possibly put her into Remission she will need Chemo, Blood and Platelet Transfusions, and finally a Bone Marrow Transplant. She will be going through a surgical implant for a Chemo Port which is risky due to her blood level, so it will be an inpatient procedure. We are currently looking through the donor list to find the perfect match for her to give her as full a life as possible. We were told if we just stayed with the Chemo she would have about 18 months left.

With all that being said she is unable to work and unable to support herself financially with all the doctors and hospital bills. Not to mention the Bone Marrow Transplant. She is currently waiting to hopefully get approved for Disability but that could take up to 6 months.
