Helping Laura start her new life.
We have come together to start a GoFund Me for Laura and her family.
As many of you are aware in December of 2022 Laura was in and out of the hospital battling an unknown illness that caused her to be down and out for weeks.
On New Year’s Day Laura woke up unable to walk, paralyzed from the chest down and was taken to the hospital in Sudbury. After being airlifted to St. Mikes in Toronto in January, Laura began the long road to recovery.
Currently, Laura has been diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis and suspected SLE. While we still do not know what the future will hold, for now, she needs to prepare for her return home and to daily activities in a wheelchair. We are starting a GoFund Me to support that journey.
We know that Laura has several upcoming expenses including a wheelchair, a lift, and exercise equipment to continue to her rehab at home and needs to make accessibility modifications to her home. At this point in time we have set a goal to raise $35,000 to cover these specific expenses. Although, there is some financial support from their benefits, unfortunately, Laura is not eligible for government or not-for-profit assisted funding for these expenses.
She will also return to being the primary caregiver of her and John's two children, to whom she was a full-time stay-at-home mom.
After four and a half months of living in hospitals and a spinal cord injury rehabilitation facility, Laura will be discharged home on May 17th. I am starting this and asking you to donate what you can to help support Laura and her family.
