Meet Laura Hanson. A beautiful, 41 year old single mom from Burlington, WI. I first met Laura 12 years ago while working in a group home for special needs adults. We currently work together at a non-profit day program for adults with disabilities. Laura gives endlessly to those she serves and is an extremely dedicated worker. Always ensuring those around her have what they need and are happy, she tirelessly provides the best care and compassion to everyone around her. Being a workaholic, usually working two jobs, this time in Laura’s life will be a challenge having to put herself before others.
Recently, Laura was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. This is a rare and aggressive cancer, if gone untreated it could take her life in less than 6 months. She's currently working with amazing doctors and has already begun the process of chemotherapy. Laura and her doctors will be fighting this with everything they’ve got! There are two different rounds of chemo, both 12 weeks long (total of 24 weeks). Laura will become very weak and her immune system will be essentially non-existent. Due to this, her doctors recommend that she shouldn't work. They fear the slightest cold could cost her her life. Not working is foreign to Laura. This is going to put Laura in a financial spiral. Not only is she fighting for her life, she will be fighting to pay bills and have a place to live.
A few friends and I are finding ways to help Laura in this time of need. We understand that this is already a rough year financially on everyone, but even the smallest donation can add up and help Laura in some way. If you don't feel comfortable making a donation on here, but want to help, please feel free to contact me directly on Facebook, other options are available and every little bit helps.
