Helping Lance Ogden with sudden illness & hospital

As some of you may of may not know, my brother-in-law Lance, has been hospitalized since February 25, 2021. He started with neck & shoulder pain that worsened. He was admitted to ThedaCare Appleton with a tentative diagnosis of meningitis. They soon discovered that it was bacterial meningitis, then was septic. Only to end up with a staph infection also. He was taken to Theda Clark hospital in Neenah where they felt he could better be treated. While there they needed to put a breathing tube in. He was having difficulty breathing. They also placed a PICC line in his neck to give medication and draw blood. During all of this, they also discovered he had a “puss sac” on his spine that needed to be removed due to putting pressure on his spine.  He was experiencing paralysis also. After the surgery, the physicians felt it was best for Lance to get transferred to Froedtert. So off to Milwaukee via ThedaStar helicopter.  Just in case you are wondering, it’s a 20 minute flight from Neenah. While at Froedtert, Lance has had several procedures, tests, blood test and anything else you could imagine.  They decided to remove the breathing tube and put in a tracheostomy. He also had the tube feeding that was routed through his nose changed to a J tube directly into his belly. Cindy was happy that she could finally see her husbands face again. He has had fevers on and off. They switched his antibiotic treatment. Tuesday, March 23rd, they decided it was time to transfer him once again. This time to Select Specialty Hospital, which is an acute care hospital. Time to start rehabilitation. At this point, Lance is still paralyzed. They are not sure the extent of the paralysis. But knowing Lance, he is a fighter! During this time, his wife, Cindy, has been by his side every step of the way taking FMLA. As you can imagine, even with insurance, the medical bills will start rolling in. So I am hoping we can raise a little money to help Lance & Cindy offset some of those expenses as this is going to be a very long road ahead of them. On behalf of the Lance Ogden family, thank you for your kindness, prayers, love and support. We are forever grateful. ❤️
