Hi, my name is Lana, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.
I’m a grandma to three beautiful grandbabies who are the light of my life. A few months ago, I underwent knee surgery after years of struggling with severe pain—my cartilage was gone, and bone spurs had made it almost impossible to stand, walk, or do the simplest daily tasks. The surgery was necessary, but it also drained our savings.
I’ve now been off work for three months because the physical and mental toll of my job became too much while I was healing. I’m currently on short-term disability, but it only pays 30% of my income. My husband Ryan has been working tirelessly to keep us afloat, but despite his best efforts, it just isn’t enough to cover even the basics.
We are hard-working, frugal people. Asking for help does not come easy to us—we’ve always tried to handle everything on our own. But right now, we’re struggling to keep the lights on, to pay for everyday essentials, and with Christmas around the corner, we’re heartbroken at the thought of disappointing our grandbabies on a day that should be filled with joy.
We’re simply a family who’s hit a rough patch, trying to keep our heads above water. Anything you’re able to contribute—no matter how small—would help us cover utilities, essential daily needs, and hopefully bring a little holiday magic back into our home.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness you can offer. It means more than we can express.
