Helping Kristy Fight P.O.T.S.

My daughter Kristy has been sick since she was a little girl. When she was 12 she started fainting at school. She couldn't even stand without passing out.  A cardiologist in Traverse City sent her to an international specialist in fainting disorders. She was diagnosed with Neurocardiogenic Syncope. Doctors gave her medication and got her back on her feet and back to school. Kristy still had symptoms and many bad days throughout high school and college at GVSU. Kristy was so excited to start teaching and loved it, but each year her symptoms got worse and she missed work. She finally left her job teaching at Swan Valley High School in Saginaw because it was too hard to be that sick and live alone with no family close by. Kristy moved back home to Northern Michigan started teaching at Buckley Schools. Over the past four years she has gotten progressively worse.  She can barely leave the house and missed many days of work. She got an additional diagnosis of Post Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (P.O.T.S.) which includes rapid uncontrolled heart rate. Both P.O.T.S. and Neurocardiogenic Syncope are both disorders of the autonomic nervous system that run many organs and function in the body including the heart. There is no cure and Kristy will continue to be sick until a cure is found. Over the last year she has gotten too sick to work at all and doctors are trying to help manage her symptoms. She is devastated that she can't teach. Kristy is not married and has her own house.  She is waiting on Social Security disability  and also long term disability insurance, but those are both very long processes. Please help if you can .
