Helping Kristin & Henry after devastating fire
Donation protected
On November 3, 2022 the unthinkable happened to Kristin and Henry. While they were at work their house caught fire and Henry arrived home to the entire house engulfed in flames and thick smoke. Sadly, all their beloved pets were still trapped inside. Firefighters arrived a couple minutes after Henry attempted to break in himself and they were able to bring all 9 animals out where CPR and oxygen were started. Unfortunately, all were gone before help could arrive. The house has been deemed a total loss and only a few select things/items were able to be salvaged and cleaned/repaired. They now need to start fresh. The beautiful home and quaint peaceful life that they built together seems all but gone.
But, amongst any storm there is always hope. The night of the fire a few of the outdoor kitties that Kristin and Henry care for made their presence known to remind us that hope is always there, we just need to open our eyes to see through the tears, sadness and devastation. Carina saw a shooting star while the three of us embraced in a very tight, tear flooded hug together. She of course dedicated that very important wish to helping our dearest friends find the strength to put one foot in front of the other and march onward. And march they have done.
Trying to imagine their pain is something I’ve been attempting to understand since I was there with them that Thursday night. It is indescribable what they are enduring.
Kristin is one of the most amazing, kind, selfless and pure people I’ve had the pleasure to call a friend. She never thinks of herself and is always putting others and any animal in need before her own needs. She loves beyond measure and has one of the purest souls on this planet. Anyone who’s crossed paths with her will tell you just that. Henry has been the driving force behind her strength each day and together they’ve conquered more than most do in a lifetime.
Because of the amount of damage, they will be in a temporary home for quite sometime while they rebuild on their beautiful and peaceful land they call home.
I decided to start this because they would never ask for help, even when it’s offered. They’d rather give their last penny to a homeless dog or cat who hasn’t had a meal in days. But today, and for many days to come, is about them. Let’s show them the meaning of true love, the meaning of community and support. Let’s help them rebuild their peaceful, simple and perfect little home they loved so much. With a heart full of hope, I imagine that one day soon, some VERY lucky animals will be able to share in that perfectly peaceful space with them and find their home they too have been searching for
with sincere gratitude,
