Hi all ! We are Kirra’s parents, Lu and Jake and we have been to quite a journey for the last 3 weeks. After finding out that Kirra had a malignant tumour of 12cm in her vena cava, obstructing 100% of her blood flow in there, we had a very hard decision to make. Leave the tumour there and wait for her to fade slow and/or have a stroke or go into surgery to remove the tumour. We have decided to operate and give her a chance to live but we were told to be ready to say goodbye to our puppy. As a high risk surgery it was likely she wouldn’t survive. Kirra is a real warrior, during surgery she lost nearly all her blood, veins bursted, blood pressure went crazy but after 4 and a half hours of surgery she survived! We took her home for the first time after 5 days and her vital signs were good but suddenly she started to struggle again. She presented blood in her stool, her gums were pale and we rushed with her into emergency again. She had some liquid in her belly and they were trying to monitor it with multiple ultrasounds. It potentially could be an ulcer that perforated her duodeno so the only way to know and/or fix it and avoid complications was to go into surgery again. No perforations, but he took another small mass from her intestines and she needed another blood transfusion, remaining in clinic for another 5 days. Kirra arrived home yesterday 28/07 and is recovering slow. We are giving her some special prescription diet, lots of medication and loads of love. She will be back in clinic tomorrow for a check up but we will have to keep on going with treatments and special diet, since she had cancer.
I always paid health insurance for Kirra, where they renew the contract automatically by email. But they have never let us know that they would only cover $5000 per year after she turned 9 years of age and we ended up with a $23.777 bill.
I increased my workload and Jake is doing his best as well but we didn’t have all this money spared so it’s been very challenging for us to cover all the costs, considering she will need further treatments and check ups. This is were we would kindly appreciate some help.
Any amount is greatly appreciated but if you cannot help financially, please share this link for us!
Love and Light
Lu, Jake and Kirra
✨ THANK YOU ✨
