Helping Kids Orphaned by COVID in India
Donation protected
Amid the tragic fallout of India’s severe second wave of COVID-19 that is claiming nearly 4,000 lives a day, many young children who have lost one or both parents to the disease in the past few weeks face an uncertain future. The issue is pervasive enough that there is now a term for it: “COVID orphans.” So many children are silent witness of their only world shattering, by losing either one or both parents. Some will forever bear the scars of seeing them slip in front of their eyes. India, a country with nearly 30 million orphans is now staring at another wave- the tragedy of the COVID orphans with the remaining family members likely not ready or capable to raise them.
The aim of this fund raiser is to enable such children to stay with their extended families by providing them support for food, safe housing and educational expenses. The funds will be used to provide immediate assistance to protect and rehabilitate these children identified in the state of Rajasthan, India.
