Why this campaign? My wife Kathy and I have spent nearly 3 months in Quetzeltenango over the last several years attending language school and living with local families. On our most recent trip this past spring, we also volunteered for 5 weeks at Caras Alegres, where we helped with homework, crafts, and kitchen clean-up, as well as led some basic English as a Second Language sessions. We have developed several strong relationships, a deep respect for the people and culture of Guatemala, and a desire to do something more to help improve the lives of children and families who face significant challenges covering basic necesities and access to education. This led to multiple conversations with leaders at Caras Alegres to figure out where we might be able to help in the near term. Together, we agreed this campaign would be a good place to start.
Please join us and help make the campaign a success with a contribution.

- 68% of the children live under in poverty level
- 47% of children are chronically malnourished
