Help Me Stay Afloat While Rebuilding After Job Loss
Hello friends and neighbors,
I’m reaching out during a difficult—but hopeful—season of my life.
In October 2025, I lost my federal IT position of over four years due to an executive order that resulted in the defunding and operational shutdown of the Inter-American Foundation (IAF). This separation was not performance-related; many dedicated professionals were affected.
As a contractor, my role was among the first eliminated when funding was reduced and contract options were no longer permitted. I am including links below for transparency and context regarding the agency’s situation.

Since then, I have been actively applying for new roles—particularly within the federal government—while also working to build a small local business: KL Computer Support & Cybersecurity Services.
Through this business, I provide in-home and remote computer support, cybersecurity guidance, and technical assistance to individuals and small businesses in Northern Virginia. I post daily cybersecurity education content online, take on client work whenever possible, and apply to multiple positions each week.
While the business is growing, income is not yet consistent enough to cover basic living expenses, and my unemployment benefits are nearing an end.
I am not asking for large donations. If you are willing to contribute $5, it would help me bridge this gap while I continue applying for work and building something sustainable.
Your support would help with:
Basic living expenses
Transportation for job interviews and client visits
Stability while I continue growing my business and pursuing employment
If you’re unable to donate, I completely understand. Even sharing this page means more than you know.
Thank you for reading, for your kindness, and for believing in steady rebuilding during unexpected change.
I am doing this on my own behalf, to help me to survive during a difficult time.
With gratitude,
Kevin Leary
