Hi, we are Samantha and Steve and we're fundraising for our good friend, Kevin Coutts.
Kevin has always been the life and soul of every party—the kind of man whose laughter could light up a room and whose kindness touched everyone he met. But behind that smile lies a heartbreak no one should have to endure. Last year, Kevin lost his beloved wife to cancer after a very short diagnosis. In an instant, his world was turned upside down.
Since then, he has bravely faced every “first” without her—every birthday, every holiday, every milestone—while continuing to be an incredible father to their two children. He has given them love, stability, and courage in the face of unimaginable grief. But the weight of this loss, combined with the struggles of raising his children alone, has taken a devastating toll on Kevin’s mental health.
On Monday 25th August, Kevin reached his breaking point. Believing the world was no longer worthy of him, he attempted to take his own life, leaving behind notes for his children and family. By nothing short of a miracle, his attempt failed. After hours of searching, Kevin was found—giving us all a second chance to keep this gentle giant in our lives, and most importantly, in the lives of his children who need him more than ever.
Kevin wants help. He wants to heal. He is surrounded by a family who offer him unconditional love and support, but after being so deeply failed by the NHS, private therapy and treatment are his only hope—and they come at a cost that is out of reach. That’s why we are asking for your support.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward giving Kevin access to the therapy and mental health care he so desperately needs. Together, we can help him find light again, rebuild hope, and ensure that his children get to grow up with the father who loves them so dearly.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, and supporting Kevin on this journey to healing.
Our goal is to reach £15,000 which would allow Kevin the option of a 2 week residential stay at a rehabilitation centre for depression should he chose. It would also allow him prolonged and on going counselling / therapy and support on a private basis. As Kev is not working just now any additional funds received would help keep a roof over him and his 2 children's heads which will hopefully elevate some stress from his life. Kev urgently needs access to these resources and this go fund me will provide him with these options.
All funds raised will go to helping Kev. At Kev’s request his father Alan will be the beneficiary though ALL funds will be used for Kevin’s benefit. As Kev is in a fragile place just now a lot of the organising and administrative tasks of securing Kevin the help he needs has fallen on his father which Kev is entirely grateful for. At Kev’s request all funds will be transferred initially to his father so as a family they can agree the next best step. Kev will ALWAYS have full control of these funds.
