On January 2nd Kermit Smith, Hill Street Cafe’s beloved cook of more than 33 years suffered a major medical emergency. He is currently being cared for a St. Peter’s hospital in Albany and will soon be moving to a rehab facility where he will start his long journey to recovery.

Kermit is Hill Street’s longest and most loyal employee. In his 33 years at the Hill, he has fostered a huge sense of community and comaraderie through his dedicated service and his unparalleled culinary skills. Anyone who knows Hill St knows Kerm. He is the heart and soul.

He has fed so many of us for so many years and we thank him for that.

As Kermit’s condition improves, we ask for your help supporting him both financially and spiritually. We hope with our help we can ensure that he is relieved of any and all medical expenses, is protected from lost wages and has financial security for the uncertainty ahead.
