I felt called to make this fundraiser for Keren because she's been having a REAL rough go of things recently, and yesterday that became very stark and apparent to me.

As some of you may/may not know, she has been unable to work for the past while because of her mobility issues.

On top of not being able to work and her mobility issues, she also had to move in May, and the house that she had hoped to move to as a long term home in September fell through because the friends she was going to move in with, got renovicted. And on top of that, is all the life complexity that comes with her having a long term brain injury.

Yesterday she mentioned to me that she doesn't have enough money to make first & last months rent for a new rental, and that she was considering going to Money Mart to make ends meet. She also mentioned that her biological parents don't have the financial resources to further support her in the short term, as they're already helping her with her current rent.

Not having stable housing, being in financial distress, navigating challenging health issues and not being able to work are all individually stressful, but together are A LOT for one person to navigate. She is on Ontario Works now, but that doesn't provided enough money to save for anything and likely doesn't even come close to covering basic expenses.

So I'm hoping that we as the friends & chosen family that surround her, can all pitch in to help make all the things she's going through, a bit less stressful by helping her get first & last months rent together for a new rental.

Please do not share this publicly, but please do share it with people that are connected to her, and who might want to support her. Any amount will help support her housing transition & I'm going to aim to give her whatever is collected, on August 9th.
