Kelly's Story
"I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in Oct 2015 after being bit by a deer tick in North Carolina. I quickly went from being a very active mother of 3 to a person unable to walk down the stairs of her own home, unable to stand long enough to prepare food, unable to provide the care I was accustomed to providing my children. I begged multiple clinics to prescribe a longer round of antibiotics than the standard 2 weeks because I was having no relief. I was extremely fatigued, my joints ached. I had a chronic sinus infection and had lost 15 lbs. In early 2016 I sought treatment at Carolina Integrative where it was determined through many rounds of blood work that I was still positive for Lyme disease, co-infections and Lyme induced anemia. I was prescribed many, many medications and supplements as well as receiving iron infusions.
Unfortunately in the summer of 2016 I had to leave the care of my doctor in North Carolina and move to Pennsylvania for my husband's job. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been trying to manage my symptoms through diet and exercise to no success. I recently was referred ti Dr. Heidi Wittels in Philadelphia, PA through the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. I was driven to find Dr. Wittels because of my overwhelming symptoms including migraines, insomnia, depression, anxiety, crippling fatigue, joint pain, costochondritis, tinnitus, allodynia, neuropathy, as well as overall lowered immune function.
My family and I are working hard to make ends meet so I can be healthy and vital enough to provide for them, but the medical bills and treatment costs take a toll. Just when we were able to cover the costs of Carolina Integrative I have more treatment to endure. I am sure I will be able to have my chronic Lyme and Bartonella be a thing of the past if I can have the stamina to continue my treatment."
Persisting Symptoms:
Migraines
Fatigue
Joint Pain
Dizziness
Allodynia (skin pain)
Neuropathy (in face and head)
Costochondritis
Tinnitus
Depression
Anxiety
Side effects of Antibiotic protocol:
Upset Stomach (weight loss)
Depression
Anxiety
Current monthly medical costs alone are totaling $800 including co-pays, blood work, medications, supplements and therapy. Medical costs have already been well into the thousands for Kelly.
Kelly has faced this fight with the greatest strength, grace and humility but the overwhelming exhaustion from these treatments has taken a toll on the bright, beautiful spirit we all know and love.
Any funds raised will be used to help cover medical costs and care for Violet, Julien and Hazel while Kelly heals her mind and body.
