Help my daughter after losing her husband unexpectedly 2 days before Christmas.
Just two days before Christmas, my daughter, Kayla Carpenter, discovered that her husband of six years, Isaac, had taken his own life. Kayla and their 4-year-old daughter, Everly, were home safe with her father and me when this happened. There had been no obvious signs that this was about to happen, as Isaac was scheduled to come to our home that day as well. They live 2 and a half hours away in Columbus, MS, so as you can imagine, discovering this while being 2 and a half hours away has been tremendously difficult.
Isaac was a Senior Airman in the Air Force for almost 5 years, and he and Kayla were stationed in Arizona and Alaska as they built their family of 3. In January of 2021, they welcomed our precious granddaughter, Everly. In 2022, Isaac and Kayla returned home to MS where later, Isaac began working as a mechanic at Primetals in Columbus, MS. Not only was Isaac Kayla's husband and best friend, but he was also the sole provider for the home. Kayla was a stay-at-home mom for Everly and has been dealing with her own medical difficulties over the last year. Isaac was a loving husband, father, and friend.
We are setting up this GoFundMe to support Kayla and Everly during an incredibly difficult time following the sudden loss of Isaac. As Kayla navigates this heartbreaking season, she is also facing unexpected financial burdens and living expenses. This fund is meant to help ease that weight and allow her to focus on caring for Everly and beginning the healing process.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help provide stability and support during this time. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing and keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for surrounding Kayla and Everly with love and compassion.
While we hesitated to share the way in which Isaac left this world, we wanted to use this opportunity to gently acknowledge the importance of mental health. As a veteran, his life also reminds us of the importance of mental health awareness, especially for those who have served. PTSD and unseen battles affect so many military families, and support truly matters. If you or someone you love is struggling, please know help is available and you are not alone.
