Helping Katie Recover!
Donation protected
Hi my name is Meghan, for those of you who don't know me I'm Katie's older sister. I've come to this stepg in hopes of helping Katie and Joel raise money to help with medical expenses and day to day living expenses while Katie is off on a long road to recovery.
For those of you who don't know Katie and Joel all that well, they are a young newlywed couple who recently bought a home and are getting on there feet as a family. Starting approximately two weeks ago Katie who is a type 1 diabetic fell ill with what she thought was normal flu like symptoms. For those of you who know her she's strong willed and a fighter. So she continued to tough it out. On Wednesday night April 5th the pain in her lower back and abdomen began worsening. Off to the ER she went. After long hours in the ER it was determined she had developed an appendicitis which had formed a large abcess located in the midst of her intestines. After two days of being in the hospital and discussions with multiple physicians it was determined surgery was needed to remove the appendix and the abscess. Which was so large anitibiotics were not doing what they needed them to do. On Friday April 7 Katie had a long 4 hour surgery to remove the appendix, the abscess and part of her intestine as well as part of the colon. When surgery began it was also determined she would need a bladder repair due to a puncture which was caused by the abscess that had formed. So what was hopefully going to be a short successful surgery turned into 4 hr one with some complications along the way. It is expected Katie will be off for approximately 4 to 6 weeks which definitely puts a strain on finances when large medical bills will be rolling in. We ask that if you can't help in a monitary form that you could continue to keep this young family in your prayers. Thank you to all!
*All proceeds will go directly to Katie and Joel to help with day to day living expenses and medical expenses.
