Hello, as most of you know I’m Lea. On February 27th my son Kai was in a motorcycle accident and has broken his spine in a minimum of 3 places. He’s obviously been through the x-rays and a CT scan, but he’s been bumped on his MRI scan (it’s not on at weekends and he was just told a bit ago that it won’t be today and possibly not tomorrow.

He’s bored, scared, in pain, cannot rest through all of this. And it has come at the most perfectly wrong moment in his life- you know when everything starts falling into place. This has made him horribly depressed thinking that he’s now going to have to go back and start at step 1 again.

His employment only offers extremely minor sick pay, not nearly enough for his expenses, rent, utilities etc. My goal here is to help him retain his home, in his mind moving back in with me is admitting failure, and I’m concerned how this shall affect his ongoing depression.

I am incredibly aware that the economy is dire, all I’m asking is if you can make even a tiny contribution- it all helps. And if even that is out of the question, even a nice message to try to elevate his spirits will be appreciated. If I was in the financial position, I would obviously be taking care of it myself.

We are counting ourselves lucky, it could have been so much worse. And I can honestly say from my side, I’ve never been so frightened. I thought at one point I was having a heart attack! (It was a panic attack.)

So, please if you are able and willing, please help us keep his home and pray he’ll be able to keep his job. He works with young people with mental disabilities, and he’s brilliant at it.

If I can even cover his expenses for 1-2 months, he will have the time and space to recover and keep his dignity and independence.
