Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am a close family friend of Kaden and his family. With the family's permission I am making this fundraiser to help with the financial strain they are currently facing due to Kadens accident.
For those that do not know, on Christmas Eve, Kaden was involved in a serious accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. Since that night, he has remained on life support. Doctors are slowly lowering his sedation, and while the road ahead is uncertain, they are hopeful for signs of improvement as his brain begins to heal.
Because of where Kaden’s injury is located, they've been told he will most likely need extensive neuro rehab, particularly for motor skills, speech, memory, and behavior. Recovery from a brain injury is not a straight path, and it will take time, patience, and specialized care.
The hope is to get Kaden to The Shepherd Center in Georgia, a nationally recognized rehabilitation hospital that specializes in traumatic brain injury. They want to give him the best opportunity possible to regain function, independence, and eventually return to work and daily life. If he is able to go to Shepherd, the family would need to be there with him throughout that process.
During this time, the family has had to significantly cut back on work hours in order to be by Kaden’s side, and do not have paid leave through work. There are many ongoing and unexpected expenses related to his care now, and potentially travel, lodging, and extended therapy needs in the future. They also don’t yet know how long Kaden will be unable to work, but have been told his recovery will be a long one.
This fundraiser is simply a way to help support Kaden’s medical and recovery journey—whether that means medical expenses now, rehabilitation later, or helping the family stay close to him if he is transferred for specialized care. Most of all, we are all focused on giving Kaden every chance to heal and live the most normal, full life possible.
Thank you for reading, sharing, keeping Kaden in your thoughts, and supporting the family in any way you’re able.
