Everyone who knows Julie knows that she is a doting mother to her 2 beautiful, smart, fun-loving girls, Lexi (14) and Camille (11). She is a loving wife to her hardworking husband, Josh Kim. She is a dedicated daughter to her adoring parents Crecencia and Benito Aguilar. She is a wonderful sister to Maria and Carlos. She is the coolest auntie to her niece and nephews Miguel, Reyna and Rowan. She is the kindest friend anyone could ever hope for.

On December 13th, 2023 Julie’s world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Inflammatory Breast Cancer Grade 3 Stage 3 ER+/PR+/HER+. Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) is a rare cancer accounting for about 1%-5% of all breast cancers. IBC is also very aggressive. Due to its aggressive nature, Julie’s medical team has chosen to implement a more intrusive Stage 4 approach to her treatment.

Julie’s treatment plan includes:

• Chemotherapy - 8 Cycles/24 weeks Enhertu and Durvalumab Infusions

• Mastectomy

• Radiation

• Reconstruction

Julie is the heart and soul of her family. She is the person who is always there to support everyone. To know Julie is to experience her warmth, kindness, her incredible zest for life and the pleasure of savoring her delicious cookies! Did I mention she also holds the title of Cookie Baker Artist Extraordinaire? There’s simply nothing she can’t do; beating cancer included.

Aside from her role as a mom, Julie has spent the last several years brightening our days through her passion and creative gift of baking beautiful, delicious cookies. Because keeping Julie healthy during her intensive treatment process is top priority, Julie is unable to work due to the risk of infection, illness and debilitating fatigue as her body fights to heal. Stage 4 chemotherapy is grueling; Julie must focus on honoring both her body’s needs and the needs of her precious young daughters and family during this vulnerable time.

We are so thankful that Julie is being treated by an excellent IBC team of doctors at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. While Julie does have health insurance, it is a high deductible plan. Aside from meeting her hefty deductible, she is still responsible for co-payments, prescription costs, other health services costs and the costs of travel to Houston for her treatment; costs which have already reached thousands of dollars.

Julie and her family are on a tough journey ahead. The emotional, physical, and financial burden that comes with this health journey is frightening and to be able to lighten that load is a gift.

With Julie’s permission, I am setting up this fundraiser to help alleviate some of the financial stressors associated with Julie’s cancer journey. In these moments of vulnerability, they need support so that they can focus on healing and much needed family time.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. All funds will go directly to Julie’s medical expenses.

El 13 de diciembre de 2023, el mundo de Julie dio un vuelco cuando le diagnosticaron Carcinoma Ductal Invasivo, Cáncer de Mama Inflamatorio de Grado 3, Etapa 3 ER+/PR+/HER+.

El Cáncer de Mama Inflamatorio (IBC) es un cáncer poco común que representa aproximadamente entre el 1% y el 5% de todos los cánceres de mama. IBC también es muy agresivo. Debido a su naturaleza agresiva, el equipo médico de Julie ha optado por implementar un enfoque de Etapa 4 más intrusivo en su tratamiento.

El plan de tratamiento de Julie incluye:

Además de su papel como madre, Julie ha pasado los últimos años alegrando nuestros días a través de su pasión y don creativo de hornear hermosas y deliciosas galletas. Debido a que mantener a Julie saludable durante su proceso de tratamiento intensivo es la máxima prioridad, Julie no puede trabajar debido al riesgo de infección, enfermedad y fatiga debilitante mientras su cuerpo lucha por sanar. La quimioterapia en etapa 4 es agotadora; Julie debe concentrarse en satisfacer tanto las necesidades de su cuerpo como las de sus preciosas hijas pequeñas y su familia durante este momento vulnerable.

Estamos muy agradecidos de que Julie esté siendo tratada por un excelente equipo de médicos especialistas en IBC, MD Anderson ubicado en Houston, Texas. Julie tiene seguro médico, pero es un plan con un deducible alto. Además de tener que cubrir su deducible, ella sigue siendo responsable de los copagos, los costos de los medicamentos recetados, otros costos de los servicios de salud y los costos de viaje a Houston para su tratamiento; costos que ya han alcanzado miles de dólares.

Julie y su familia tienen por delante una jornada difícil. La carga emocional, física y financiera que conlleva esta jornada hacia la salud es aterradora y poder aligerar esa carga es un regalo.
