Helping Julie Dawkes - following her life changing diagnosis
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Beverley Thomas (Formerly Arnott). Many of you may know myself and Julie Dawkes as carers within the Cotswold community. I would like to take some time to share information regarding my wonderful best friend Julie, who has served within the community, caring for many, for over 30 Years.
Those of you who know Julie, will be aware of her fantastic sense of humour, ability to make anyone smile and her caring nurture that she provides to all those around her. Julie has recently been diagnosed with a multitude of illnesses, which have unfortunately led to life debilitating circumstances.
Julie's diagnoses include MNN (Multifocal Motor Neuropathy), LSS (Lewis-Sumner Syndrome), SBD (Sensory Balance Disorder), and MADSAM (Multifocal Acquired Demyelinating Sensory and Motor Neuropathy). All diagnoses have a severe impact on the brain's functional ability and as a result, as these diagnoses progress, Julie will experience a reduction in walking and sensory response alongside, muscle wastage and loss of balance. Additionally Julie has been informed that these illnesses can mimic symptoms of Motor Neuron's Disease and Multiple sclerosis - neurologists and doctors have shared with Julie that with the degenerative processes occurring, becoming immobile is highly likely.
As this is shared with yourselves, Julie is currently residing in hospital, whereby she has been informed she has a bleed on the brain. Doctors are currently treating this via the use of medication.
We are aware that this is a challenging time for not only Julie, but her family around her. Members of Julie's close network, would like to create this go fund me page, to support Julie in a way that she has supported many of the Cotswold community - in hopes this is a reflection of being able to give back to Julie, with how she has given to so many others. A donation would not change Julie's circumstances, however, it can ease her and her families worries and seek to identify the forms of support Julie will need as time progresses.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could share this page with those you know and those who know the family, the power of networking is extraordinary. Any donation, big or small, or even just to spread awareness, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this - Sincerely Beverley Thomas (Formerly Arnott)
Keep that sense of humour going Julie, the whole community is behind you.
